I'd like to offer private belly dance classes for anyone who feels like they need more one-on-one instruction, privacy, patience and a teacher dedicated to spreading the joy of the dance! You'll get to work at your own pace, wear whatever you like, and be encouraged to find the beauty of the dance in your own way.

I absolutely believe in the spirituality of belly dancing, and see it the way it was meant to be seen- a beautiful act that praises life and strengthens women's bodies.

The dance will help with self-esteem, body image, flexibility, moods, and over-all well being.

Wear comfortable yoga clothes or dress up for each lesson- it’s up to you!

The schedule is absolutely flexible, and I will do my best to work out a time that works best for you- lessons can be anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours- again, it's up to you! The price will vary as to how long you want your lesson to be. To give you an idea, an hour-long lesson will be $15. However, trades can be made and I can always knock down the price if you need it. My goal is to inspire you and help you find belly dance as wonderful as I do.

She raised the question about professional boundaries...that she would be concerned if I was trained and certified as both. I am just curious as to other people's thoughts and if anyone else has been trained/certified in utilizing more than one crative modality with intergration?
My understanding as well with expressive therapies you become trained in many modalities, but not licensed in any...something does not seem right? Can anyone provide some reflections or clarity...I would gratly appreciate it!

I am a former professional ballroom and latin dancer, and I want to get out of the competitve, back-biting, superficial world and into the healing arts. I'm planning a move to San Diego in a few months (I'm in Boston right now), and would like as much input as possible as to what I might be getting myself into. I know that Kripalu offers danskinetics training, but unfortunately, I can't afford the course just yet. What kind of professional training is offered out there on the West Coast? Thanks,
it truely is a form of therapy. a total release.

whats so messed up is...are the labels that much of the scene promotes for the solo freaks that like to go out and dance, like their fucking howlin' at the moon. its fucking nature man! and i feel like the community is otrasizing those that arent feeling the need to "having to participate". when did it become a crime to go out (SOLO) and enjoy the beats that the dj is spinnin. this is all making me very very sad, and unwelcome in something that i cant live without.

I am thinking of maybe starting a dance troup if I can find some ppl interetsed. For those that do not know what mixed-ability dance is, its dance that involved disabled and non-disabled dancers. I have experience in CI and modern, but would prefer to do more a hip hop style dance. Hope to hear from ya soon!

I have a vision, one that includes promoting education, movement, health, art, and community for social change. Two years ago, I found a program that would certify me to do exactly that. I put off attending to pursue a Masters degree. Last month I found out that this amazing school is likely closing.**

The Moving On Center, www.movingoncenter.org, may be offering the last ever certification program for participatory arts this fall. I want to attend and I want you to attend too. If they get enough students, then they may have the money to reorganize and continue.

I believe in this program and I believe that this work is so needed in the world. It starts on September 8th and goes through mid December. NOW is the time. If you choose to be part of this program and this vision of health, I will give you a free session of any of my services.

My services include
Nutrition, Coaching, Wellness Education, Energy Readings. I'm certified as a Diet Counselor, Life Coach, and Massage Therapist, currently pursuing a Masters in Holistic Health Education, and run my own business, www.integrativewellnessworks.com

Thank you for reading. Please send good thoughts to the Moving On Center.

**Please note that I am writing this of my own accord, do not work for the Moving On Center, and truly want them to stay around and thrive.

Dance is the most fundamental of the arts, involving a direct expression and experience of oneself through the body. It is a basic form of authentic communication, and as such it is an especially effective medium for therapy. Based in the belief that the body, the mind and the spirit are interconnected, dance/movement therapy is defined by the American Dance Therapy Association as "the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a process that furthers the emotional, cognitive, social and physical integration of the individual."
